Hebrew Literature

I have figure out that I really enjoy reading Hebrew literature and Gilgamesh. It's very interesting reading about things that happened a long time ago. I also enjoy reading things that come out of the bible and talking about it outside of church. In class we compared the story of the flood from Gilgamesh and also from Noah's Ark. They both had many similarities but also many things that were the same.

On my individual reading book, I am still reading The Stranger. I've read a couple more chapters this past week. I'm hoping I can read a lot more this week. It seems like I haven't been getting a lot of time to read which stinks. But, so far I really enjoy this book. It makes me want to keep reading it! So I'm hoping I get more time this week to finish so I can see wants going to happen next!

Gilgamesh

We just read Gilgamesh in class. I really enjoyed reading it. The thing I found very interesting was the difference of what they valued then and what we value now. There's many things that we value now that they didn't and many things they valued that we don't.

On my independent reading book, The Stranger, I have finally had a chance to read it but I've only read a couple chapters. It sucks being busy! What I've read so far was about Meursault, who is the narrator, who received a telegram saying that his mother had died. So he took four days off for work to go to where his mother lived and starts to prepare the funeral. While he is away, he meets Marie who is a former co-worker of his and they spend a day together

The Stranger

The book I chose was The Stranger by Albert Camus. I chose this book because it looked and sounded interesting. I haven't really had time to read any of it since I've been very busy all week. I don't work this weekend so hopefully I have a chance to start reading it.

Why I am taking world lit

I decided to take the world lit class because I thought it would prepare me for college. I originally signed up for a different class that also was a college prep class but I couldn't take it since it was in the afternoon and I have DMACC in the afternoon.  College prep English courses in high school are great to take to prepare everyone for college. It will help students be a better reader and writer once they get to college.
